I've played a vast number of third-party custom maps. Even when playing some of Left 4 Dead 2's most classic maps like Guangzhou Zengcheng and Buried Deep, the game still crashes to desktop without any error message when loading the next chapter. Each crash generates a 500+ MB dump file (in .mdmp format) in the game's root directory.
My Left 4 Dead 2 has quite a few mods installed, but none of them have any conflicts (no red warning messages). Also, none of my mods replace the models for the common infected or special infected.

Did you read the red text below download button in first page?
Regarding the upcoming version.
Some options were removed, planty of options actually and it happen because some of them were improved and made automatic or they were absolute and unused or too complex and not user friendly, things like advanced options for glow.
Non obs esp was removed, it includes everything from hitboxes/eyetracers/player info. I know many people like non obs player info but its not user friendly and obs options are the best in terms of everything

Re-install Directx and Visual C++ Redistributable 2005-2019 My situation is the same as yours, but after I installed it, it popped up normally.

Does anyone else have this issue? In the latest version of L4D2V Reborn, clicking the 'Save CFG' button causes the game to hard crash, and no crash dump file is generated.

im having the exact same issue. When I try to SAVE or LOAD config file game crashes instantly. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

It was supposed to be fixed but i didnt because it doesnt crash for me so i cant verify. I handed the issue to @ Lorian
